Marjorie Larson

Marjorie Elizabeth Larson, 82, of Atlanta died at 8:40 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2000, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20, at Faith Assembly of God Church in Lincoln with the Rev. David Andreasen officiating.

Burial will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Holland & Barry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Larson was a homemaker in her own home.

She was born April 18, 1917, in Chicago, a daughter of Charles H. and Agnes (Trusane) Griffith. She married John E. Larson June 27, 1941, in Chicago. He survives, in Atlanta.

Also surviving are their children, Marjorie Anne Sapp (and Don) of Atlanta, John Charles Larson (and Linda) of Lombard, David James Larson of Virginia (Ill.), Thomas Robert Larson (and Betty) of Lincoln and Mary Elizabeth Virginia Christy (and Randy) of Villa Park; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Griffith of Glen Ellyn and George Griffith of Genoa; and one sister, Irene Agnew of Glen Ellyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

She was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church, a former Sunday School teacher, Junior Church leader and choir member. She was always interested in the mission program of her church. She had been involved in Home Extension and Women’s Aglow Fellowship.

Memorials may be made to the foreign missions program of her church.

 

 

Frederick Koester Sr.

Frederick H. "Fritz" Koester Sr., 82, of Lincoln died at 9:26 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln with the Rev. William Adam and the Rev. Kirk Cunningham officiating.

Koester was retired from farming in West Lincoln Township.

He was a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot during World War II.

He was born March 2, 1918, at New Holland, a son of Harry F. and Matilda (Miller) Koester. He married Nellie Mae Moos, Nov. 3, 1943, in Lincoln. She survives, in Lincoln.

Also surviving are one daughter, Susan (and William) Pirtle of Lincoln; two sons, Frederick H. Koester Jr. of Lincoln and Gary Koester or Moorehaven, Fla.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Koester of New Holland; and two sisters, Mildred Johnson and Louise Wolpert, both of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one infant brother.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln, the American Legion of New Holland, the VFW of Lincoln, the 367 fighter group and the 392 fighter squadron.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
