Life in the fast lane

[JULY 26, 2000]  Amanda Coppinger of Lincoln has been experiencing life in the fast lane at our local Hardee's. Like most teenagers, Amanda is working to save money for her future goals. She soon plans to attend the University of Illinois and major in photography. "I want to own my own studio in California," she says.

Amanda enjoys working with people of all ages. After working as a nanny and with senior citizens at a nearby retirement home, this 17-year-old stands on a valuable foundation of life – respect.

"We are not just people," she says. "You got to give respect in order to get respect."

The food service fast line can be pretty fast, but Amanda stands on her words. A co-worker of hers comments: "Amanda is courteous to all the customers. She is punctual, and she always takes time to get things right."

Apart from work, Amanda likes to read mystery stories and listen to music. She enjoys funny movies and funny people. "People need to have a lot of humor to survive around me," she says jokingly.

One of five children, Amanda has big plans ahead of her. As for now, life in the fast lane no doubt prepares her for the even faster lane that awaits her on the highway of life.
