LCHS Christmas concert Thursday

[DEC. 12, 2000]  The LCHS Band and Choir will present a Christmas concert on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The Beginning and Advanced Choirs, Concert Band and Jazz Bands will be featured. The concert is free and open to the public.

Plays chosen for next season

[DEC. 6, 2000]  Lincoln Community Theatre is pleased to announce the three productions selected for presentation in the summer of 2001. To commemorate LCT’s 30th anniversary, "You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown," the first musical presented by Lincoln Community Theatre in its first season 30 years ago, will open the summer season.

Following in July will be the comedy "Moon Over Buffalo."

Closing LCT’s 30th anniversary season will be the upbeat musical "The Wiz," a different spin on the popular Wizard of Oz.

Jazz concert links groups from LC, ISU

[DEC. 4, 2000]  Lincoln College Music Department will present a jazz concert featuring the Lincoln College Jazz Band along with Illinois State University’s Jazz Ensemble on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 8 p.m. in the Johnston Center for Performing Arts on the campus of Lincoln College.

The concert is free and open to the public, but reserved seating is required due to the overwhelming response. To reserve seats call 735-5050, Ext. 280.

 

Lincoln College music instructor Greg Allen says the concert has something for everyone and will feature a variety of jazz music. "There will be rock, blues, swing, Latin genres, and the selections will range from the older standards to newer compositions," he said. The concert marks the first time in over 20 years that Lincoln College Jazz Band has jointly performed with ISU’s Jazz Ensemble.

The Lincoln College Jazz Band is a mixture Lincoln college students and community members. Lincoln College students in the band are Kassi Tammen of Flanagan, Dave Toney of West Chicago, Jason Stahnke of Deerfield, Ashley Lyons of Waverly, Adam Levy of Belleville, Josh Houberg of Reddick, John Hoblit of Atlanta, Shelby Smith of Ellery, Brittany Dobson of Lincoln and Mitch Martin of Crystal Lake.

Band members from the area include Greg Gandenberger, Catherine Frazier, Kingsley Keys, Michael Kasa, Haydn Gerdts and Chad Minier, all of Lincoln, and Daren Wilkes and Jenny Meyer of Bloomington.
