[DEC. 22, 2000]  This year's title goes to Illinois. Illini star player Brian Cook raises the Bragging Rights trophy high for all to see (second photo) following their sweat-breaking, teeter-totter, roller coaster, win-by-a-hair game against Missouri. The game ended in overtime 86-81.

According to senior Sergio McClain, this game was the most important one of the season to win. "I'll trade this for all of them," he said. MU had won the matchup the last three years.

The Bragging Rights tradition officially started between the two bordering states in 1980. Since that time Illinois has claimed the trophy 12 times, Missouri 18 times.
