Lincoln and the Logan County Airport were a hit with visiting flyers

6-29-00

Editor:

The Logan County Airport was the site for the summer convention of the Midwest Group of the American Navion Society on June 23 through the 25th. The event was hosted by the Heritage-in-Flight Museum and the Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County. Members of the Navion Group came from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, and Lincoln, Nebraska. Heritage-in-Flight President Jack Burke and board member Dave Shinneman spent countless hours to bring this event to Lincoln.

While in Lincoln, the Group stayed at the Holiday Inn Express where they reserved thirty rooms and the hospitality suite. Several members rented cars from Graue Chevrolet. Logan County Board member Roger Bock and Thressia Usherwood of the Tourism Bureau arranged for the non-flying members to tour Lincoln, which proved to be a big hit, including lunch at the Blue Dog Inn. The Restaurant at the Depot was the venue for the banquet Saturday evening with sixty members in attendance. President Dick Hatfield of the Navion Group stated that the food at the Depot was the best they have had during any of their meetings throughtout the midwest.

The Logan County Airport and Lincoln were a hit with these folks. I'm sure they will tell their friends about the hospitality and friendliness they encountered here. The Logan County Airport has proved again what a benefit it is to our community.

Respectfully,

Curt Fox
Heritage-In-Flight
