Carolyn Shroyer

Carolyn Ent Shroyer, 73, of Springfield died at 1:52 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Holland & Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be one hour before the services at the funeral home on Friday.

She was a retired legal secretary who had worked for four law firms in Rockford and Springfield. She was a former secretary for the Springfield Chamber of Commerce.

She was born Oct. 31, 1926, in Muncie, Ind., a daughter of Edwin C. and Dorothy (Oldham) Ent. She married Delbert Paul Shroyer on June 5, 1949, in Lincoln. He died Aug. 28, 1992.

She was also preceded in death by two infant sons, Steven Craig and Del.

Surviving is one sister, Margaret Deason of Richmond.

 


Olivia Toft

Olivia Anne Toft, 8 months, of Lincoln died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

A memorial service will be Saturday, July 8, at 2 p.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Tim Searby officiating.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.

The baby, a daughter of Jonathan and Ann (Hoagland) Toft, was born Oct. 19, 1999, in Lincoln.

Surviving are her parents, of Lincoln; one sister, Rhiannon Hoagland of Lincoln; two brothers, Jonathan and Zachery Toft of Lincoln; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Helen Hoagland of Lincoln; paternal grandmother Joanne Toft of Lincoln; maternal great-grandmother Virgie Van Fossan of Lincoln; and maternal great-great-grandmother Goldie Moseng of Meridian, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, James Toft.

Memorials may be made to Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago or to the Ronald McDonald House.

Dorothy Huckaby

Dorothy Huckaby, 80, of Lincoln died at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Robert Henderson officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour before the services at the funeral home on Friday.

Mrs. Huckaby retired from Cutler Hammer in Lincoln after 18 years.

A daughter of Louis and Ora (Clark) Goldhammer, she married "Guy" Mike Huckaby on June 28, 1941, in Chicago. He died Dec. 1, 1999.

Surviving are one niece, Kea L. Lowenberg of Laguna Beach, Calif.; one nephew, John (and Mary) Leavitt of Minnetonka, Minn.; and two sisters-in-law, Katharina Goldhammer of Lincoln and Ruth Warren of Mokena.

Also, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Paul Goldhammer; and one sister, Viola Leavitt.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose.

Memorials made be made to the donor’s choice.

 


Robert Salyers

Robert H. Salyers, 78, of Lincoln died at 2:01 a.m. Sunday, July 2, 2000, at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Lincoln.

Salyers was a shift foreman at PPG Industries in Lincoln.

He served with the Army Air Corps in World War II.

He was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Lincoln, a son of Wylie and Effie Salyers. He married Linda Elliott in Lincoln on Dec. 29, 1948.

Surviving are one son, Gary (and Barbara) Salyers of Wheaton, and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and several brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be made to the World War II Veterans Memorial Fund.
