Preserving tips
for jellies and jams

[JULY 7, 2000]  Here we are in early summer. What a great time to enjoy the fruits of our gardens. Some fruits are already past season locally, but other fruits are yet to come. They’re all still available at fruit stands and markets at good prices. It is a good time to preserve those tasty raspberries, strawberries and blueberries.

Animals for adoption

These animals and more are available to good homes from the Logan County Animal Control at 1515 N. Kickapoo. Fees for animal adoption: dogs, $60/male, $65/female; cats, $35/male, $44/female. The fees include neutering.

This pair goes together. One male and one female Lhasa apso, approximately 2 years old, are seeking a home where they can live together. Each is spayed/neutered and housebroken.

"Gizmo" is a domestic shorthair cat and not camera shy. About 2 years old, he is neutered and declawed, very affectionate, and an inside cat. And, yes, he has legs.

Taffy", a cocker spaniel mix, is 8 years old. She is spayed, housebroken and prefers adults.

DIASPORA

Nancy (Hatfield) Eichelberger would like to hear from Lincoln-area people she used to know

[JULY 7, 2000]  "I graduated from L.C.H.S. in 1956 and would love to hear from some classmates. We have been gone from the Lincoln area for over 20 years. I still get homesick even after so many years. I lived in Lincoln for eight years and then moved to a small town (Emden), where we lived for the next 22 years. We lived in Clearwater for 16 years and moved to Odessa, Fla., which is really northwestern Tampa, several years ago, as we wanted to be in the country again."
