Antionette DiRocco

Antionette DiRocco, 91, of Lincoln, died at 3:55 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2000, at the Christian Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2000, at Holy Family Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kerrigan Funeral Home, Lincoln.

Mrs. DiRocco was a homemaker.

She was born Jan. 17, 1909, at Colledimacine Abruzzi, Italy, a daughter of Michael and Lucille (Rossi) Dippolito. She married Joseph DiRocco Nov. 20, 1932, in New York City, N.Y. He died Oct. 31, 1993.

Surviving are one daughter, Norma Knollenberg of New Holland; one son, Joseph DiRocco Jr. of Springfield; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Angelina Pohle of Margate, Fla., and Francis Montaturo of New York City, N.Y.; two brothers, Louis Dippolito of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and Achille Dippolito of Margate, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. DiRocco was a member of Holy Family Church, the Daughters of Isabella and the Lincoln Woman’s Club.

Memorials may be made to the Christian Nursing Home Activity Department or Holy Family Church.

 


Emmanuel Hunter

Emmanuel R. Hunter, 85, of Chestnut died at 10:55 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2000, at Vonderlieth Living Center of Mount Pulaski.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Holland & Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Larry Beebe officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Hunter was a grain and livestock farmer in the Logan County area.

He was born Jan. 27, 1915, at Cornland, a son of Edward and Mary (Smith) Hunter. He married Nellie G. Whitehouse Oct. 2, 1935, at Lincoln. She survives.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Brenda (and Mike) Fink of Beason, Kenny (and Viki) Hunter of Lincoln, Shanon (and Mike) Bauer of Tulsa, Okla., and Claude (and Raetta) Hunter of Bloomington; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mabel Jarrell of Las Vegas, Nev., and Eloise Wilson of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Hunter Sr.; Lonnie Hunter; Katherine Samford; Clonda Hunter; Goldie Kennett; Gwendola Bohn; Edward Hunter; Josheph Hunter; Cleo Craig; Louise Zeitler; and four infant brothers and sisters.

He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Chestnut/Beason Sportman’s Club.

Memorials may be made to Chestnut Rescue Squad or the Beason United Methodist Church.

Wayne Mayer

Wayne Lee Mayer, 61, of New Holland died at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2000, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2000, at Holland & Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln with the Rev. Douglas Rettig officiating.

Burial will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland.

Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mayer was a parts salesman at C.C. Hawes Implement Co. of New Holland.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

He was born Jan. 1, 1939, in Logan County, a son of Harold and Louise (Bell) Mayer.

He is survived by his mother, who lives in Scottsdale, Ariz.; a companion, Sandra Buffington of New Holland; three sons, Randy L. Mayer of Lincoln, Steven W. Mayer of Zion, and Terry L. Mayer of Bedford, Texas; two stepdaughters, Tina R. Mayer of New Holland and Monica M. Mayer of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Charles Mayer of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Mayer, and one brother, David Mayer.

He was a volunteer fireman and the town clerk of New Holland. He was of the Protestant faith.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Memorial Home Care Hospice.

 


Frank Klockenga

Frank L. Klockenga, 86, of Lincoln, died at 5:10 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2000, at the Christian Village, Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Klockenga was a retired farmer.

He was born Dec. 4, 1913, at Hartsburg, a son of Nanke and Tena (Conrady) Klockenga. He married Maxine Slayton May 3, 1936, at Hartsburg.

Surviving are his wife, in Lincoln; four sons, Darrell (and Shirley) Klockenga of Crown Point, Ind., Alvin (and Teresa) Klockenga of Lincoln; Frank (and Kara) Klockenga of McLean; and Vernon (and Janet) Klockenga of Lincoln; one daughter, Linda (and David R.) Aper of Lincoln; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George F. Klockenga and Nanke Klockenga, both of Lincoln; and one sister, Martha (and Stephen) Sloan of Hartsburg.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln and the Logan County Farm Bureau. He had been president of the Lawndale School Board.
