won’t run again
for District 27 board
[NOV.
14, 2000] Lincoln
attorney William Bates, current president of the board of Elementary
School District 27, has announced that he does not intend to run for
another term at the April 2001 election. "It’s time for new
blood. I don’t want to monopolize the market," he said.

an election year before I was eligible to vote, I saw a political
cartoon that I’ve remembered ever since. The picture could
summarize many elections, but I suppose I enjoyed it initially
because the message was easy to understand.

Mount
Pulaski’s ladies basketball team traveled to Maroa yesterday afternoon to
compete against Maroa-Forsyth. Maroa-Forsyth won 65-42, leading at the end of
each quarter.

century. It allows any average user with a computer or an internet appliance and
a low-cost internet connection to communicate across town or across continents
and oceans with any other internet user almost instantaneously. You can email a
single message to multiple people at one time, carbon copy it to hundreds if you
like, and everyone likes the price tag.

planted for spring beauty in Mason City

Saturday,
Nov. 11, with fair but cool weather conditions, seven brave Garden
Angels and two Angel husbands helped to get 600 spring bulbs into
the ground before the snow comes. Mason City Rotary Club donated the
flowering bulbs and sought two clubs to do the plantings.
