Bonnie Halstead

Bonnie E. Halstead, 86, of Joliet, formerly of Mount Pulaski, died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at Deerbrooke Nursing Home in Joliet.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with Bill Shanle officiating..

Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Mrs. Halstead farmed with his husband.

She was born June 4, 1914, in Edwards County to George and Dora (Nicholas) Stopher. She married Roland Peter Halstead on Oct. 8, 1932, in Mount Pulaski. He died May 18, 1989.

Surviving are one son, James Allen Halstead of Joliet, and one sister, Eileen (Van) Froelich of Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mount Pulaski.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

David Anderson

David W. Anderson, 46, of Lincoln died at 6:42 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Rick Ball officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Anderson was born May 4, 1954, at Galesburg to Lloyd B. and Margaret (Wall) Anderson. He married Kathleen Weers on Aug. 22, 1979, in Lincoln.

Surviving are one daughter, Jillian N. Anderson of Letts, Iowa; one son, Jake W. Anderson of Hartsburg; his mother, in Lincoln; two brothers, Rick B. Anderson and Robbin G. Anderson, both of Lincoln; and his former wife, in Emden.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He was a member of Park Meadows Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the David W. Anderson Memorial Fund.

Bessie Palmer

Bessie Marie Palmer, 93, of Lincoln died at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Holland & Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln, with William Dohan officiating.

Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery in Sangamon County.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Holland & Barry.

Mrs. Palmer worked as a cook at Lincoln College before her retirement.

She was born Aug. 14, 1907, in Curran Township to James Thomas and Phebe (Duffy) Stephens. She married Lester N. Palmer on Aug. 1, 1925, at Curran. He died Feb. 17, 1991.

Surviving are two sons, George A. Palmer of Middleburg, Fla., and L. Thomas Palmer of Carlisle, Ark.; three daughters, Dora Jean Donath, Ina Marie Smith and Patricia Ann Duncan, all of Lincoln; 35 grandchildren; 101 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nellie G. Rain of Springfield and Velma B. Elmore of Chatham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, two daughters, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, five brothers and one sister.

She was a member of Lincoln Hill Free Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to her church.

 


Verna Stoll

Verna L. Stoll, 76, of Mount Pulaski passed away 9:47 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 20, at the Zion Lutheran Church of Chestnut with the Rev. Richard Stamm officiating.  Burial will be at the Mount Pulaski Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.

Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Mrs. Stoll was born on March 21, 1924, in Decatur to Karl and Bertha (Kossieck) Riedel.  She married Raymond Hubert Stoll on August 31, 1947, in Decatur.  He passed away on Dec. 20, 1991.

Surviving are three sons, David R. (Cindy) Stoll of Chestnut, Henry K. (Beverly) Stoll of Beason, and John E. (Nancy) Stoll of Chestnut; three daughters, Linda L. (Jeffery) Dirks of Mount Pulaski, Joyce A. (Charles) Kirk of Sherman and Julie L. (Daryn) Denzer of Champaign; one brother, Richard "Bud" (Judy) Riedel of Decatur; three sisters, Dorothy Strauch of Washington, Margaret Krueger of Decatur and Norma (Walter) Rahn of Tuscola.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren:  Caleb and Angela Dirks, Anthony Kirk, Matthew and Michael Stoll, Allison Stoll, Samantha, Skye and Haylie Denzer.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Mrs. Stoll was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Chestnut, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid Society, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Fellowship Club and church choir.  She was also a volunteer for the Vonderlieth Living Center Auxiliary and enjoyed painting, sewing and writing poetry. Memorials may be given to Vonderlieth Living Center Auxiliary or Zion Lutheran Church of Chestnut.
