OVER THE NOON HOUR (CDT)

National Arbor Day celebration

Students in Mrs. Stamm's first grade at Zion Lutheran School, students from the LCHS National Honor Society, Eric Jenkins of Femme Osage Tree Farm, and city officials Mayor Ritter (far right) and Donnie Osborne (just left of Mayor Ritter) from the streets department honored National Arbor Day together this morning. The city planted a new tree just outside the first-graders' classroom window. The students also received T-shirts, certificates and seedlings for home planting. In turn, the children read a tree poem for the visiting dignitaries.
