Amanda Eickhoff

Amanda Christine Eickhoff, 96, of Mount Pulaski, formerly of Springfield, died at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Vonderleith Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Connie Rieger officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Mount Pulaski.

Mrs. Eickhoff was a housewife.

She was born Nov. 29, 1904, in McKittrick, Mo., to Wilhelm and Christine (Fahrmeier) Lenger. She married Herman Eickhoff on June 12, 1928, in Herman, Mo.

Surviving are one son, Donald H. (Margaret) Eickhoff of Fenton, Mo.; one daughter, Dorothy (Kenneth) Brooker of Mount Pulaski; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, seven brothers and five sisters. She was the last of her immediate family.

She was a member of Westminster Presbysterian Church of Springfield and of the choir and a church circle. She was a 50-year member and past matron of the Flower City Chapter Order of Eastern Star and past queen of Aeba Temple 42, Daughters of the Nile.

Memorials may be made to Vonderleith Living Center of Shriners’ Hospital for Crippled Children.

George Opperman Jr.

George Victor Opperman Jr., 74, of Lincoln died at 8:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Opperman was a grain and livestock farmer for 46 years in Aetna Township.

He was a first lieutenant in the Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

He was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Lincoln to George and Emma (Begolka) Opperman. He married Ruth Marian Finke in Mount Pulaski on Feb. 21, 1954.

Surviving are his wife, of Lincoln; one son, David (Stephanie) Opperman of Lincoln; one daughter, Janet (Keith) Dullard of Morton; eight grandchildren, Jenna, Kathryn, Samuel and Megan Opperman and Christian, Corey, Haley and Nicole Dullard; and three sisters, Donnabelle Pech of Lincoln, Emma Lou Lemon of Kankakee and Jewell Zook of Jacksonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln, where he was past chairman of the Christian Education Committee, served on the Board of Elders and was past superintendent of the Sunday School. He was also a member of American Legion Post 263 and a member and past president of Logan County Farm Bureau. He was junior livestock superintendent at the Logan County Fair for 45 years. He also served on the Logan County Extension Council and the Farm Service board of directors.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Zion Lincoln School in Lincoln.

Marie Allen

Marie M. Allen, 80, of Lincoln, formerly of Carmi, died at 11:28 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at her daughter’s home in Lincoln.

Private graveside services will be at noon Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Middle Creek Cemetery, Dahlgren. Kerrigan Funeral Home, Lincoln, is in charge of arrangements.

There is no visitation.

Mrs. Allen was a homemaker.

She was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Benton to Evan and Pearl (Fiveash) Williams. She married Ernest E. Allen on Jan. 30, 1960, in Benton. He died July 19, 1997.

Surviving are one daughter, Judie Scanlon of Lincoln; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Paulavish of Belleville.

She was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one son-in-law.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association.


Brenda Leggans

Brenda R. Leggans, 19, of Mason City died at 2:50 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in an automobile accident in rural Mason County

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.

Cremation rites will follow the visitation.

She was employed at APAC in Lincoln.

She was born Feb. 3, 1982, in Canton to Gerald and Dena (Owens) Leggans.

Surviving are her father, in Mason City; one son, Seth Allen Leggans, Mason City; and one brother, David Leggans of Clayton, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dena Leggans.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seth Allen Leggans in case of Mason City National Bank.


Mae Zimmerman

Mae Irene (Markkanen) Zimmerman, 96, of Mountain Home, Ark., died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in Mountain Home. Her husband was from San Jose.

Burial of ashes at Green Hill Cemetery, San Jose, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, with the Rev. Cindy Rettig officiating. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Zimmerman was a devoted wife and homemaker.

She was born April 7, 1904, in Floodwood, Minn. She married Calvin William Zimmerman. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Fred Zimmerman and Roger Zimmerman; one daughter, Yana Zimmerman; and two grandchildren.
