Laurel Hasenmyer

Laurel Hasenmyer, 85, of Lincoln died at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Larry Maffett officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home.

Hasenmyer farmed in Logan County from 1939 to 1986.

He was born Jan. 26, 1915, in Lincoln to George and Anna (Howland) Hasenmyer. He married Helen Irene Lessen on Jan. 18, 1939, in Lincoln. She survives.

Also surviving are one brother, Louis Hasenmyer of Lincoln, and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild; one brother, George D. Hasenmyer; and two children, Marvin Hasenmyer and Jane Hasenmyer.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lincoln and the Logan County Farm Bureau.

Memorials may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.

 


Konstant Aviza

Konstant "Konnie" Aviza, 82, of Lincoln died at 9:25 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Kerrigan Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be one hour before the services at the funeral home.

Aviza had been employed in the maintenance department at Lehn and Fink in Lincoln. He retired in 1982.

He served during World War II with the U.S. Army Engineers in the European Theater.

He was born April 14, 1918, in Cambridge, Mass., to Joseph and Barbara (Sidlouskas) Aviza. He married Patricia Simpson in Lincoln on June 8, 1950. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Diane Lowe of Emden, Barbara Bernahl of Lincoln and Donna Aviza of Lincoln; two sons, Richard Aviza of Lincoln and David Aviza of Coldwater, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ben Stopolones of Clearwater, Fla.

He was a member of Holy Family Church, American Legion Post 263, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1756 and Lincoln Sportsman Club, all in Lincoln.

Dollie Robinson

Dollie I. Robinson, 93, of Lincoln died at 5:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Christian Village in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Tom Gerdts officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Robinson retired from Lincoln Developmental Center after 33 years as nursing supervisor.

She was born Jan. 12, 1907, at Meadville, Mo., to James and Permelia (McKinney) Mier.

Surviving are one son, Jesse (and Phyllis) Robinson of Lincoln; one daughter, Trella (and Neal R.) Young of Riverview, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Louise Hackl of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, three brothers and one daughter, Doris Canada.

She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church and White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Judy Schaub

Judy L. Schaub, 42, of Lincoln died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Dan Sherstad officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Schaub worked for Lehn and Fink Products for 16 years.

She was born May 7, 1958, at Lincoln to John and Joyce (Hughes) Coleman. She married Jeffery G. Schaub on March 28, 1993, in Waynesville. He survives.

Also surviving are her parents, of Lincoln; one stepson, Jeffery G. Schaub Jr. of Lincoln; two brothers, Jonathan Keith Coleman of Lincoln and Joseph D. Coleman of Midland City; two sisters, Jamie Michele Coleman and Jean Rene Coleman, both of Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

She was a member of Waynesville Christian Church.

Petrah Lowe

Petrah M. "Pet" Lowe, 89, of Lincoln died at 5:44 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Ray Hudson officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lowe retired in 1976 from Lincoln Developmental Center, where she was a seamstress.

She was born Feb. 14, 1911, at Chestnut, to Roy and Effie (Fletcher) Lakin. She married John Lowe on Feb. 26, 1933, at Petersburg. He died April 26, 1981.

Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis (and James) LeMothe of Lincoln and Marilyn Lowe of Springfield; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Lloyd Lakin. She was the last of her immediate family.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lincoln.

Ronald Lechleiter

Ronald Delbert Lechleiter, 52, of Lincoln died at 10:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wis.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Monsignor Edward Higgins officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at the funeral home.

Lechleiter was a salesman at Kmart in Bloomington and formerly worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections.

He was born March 23, 1948, in Lincoln to Delbert C. and Lucille (Rohlfs) Lechleiter.

Surviving is one brother, Edward H. Lechleiter of Hartsburg.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Gilbert Lee Lechleiter, and one sister, Judith Ann Lechleiter.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln.

He received an associate’s degree from Lincoln College and also attended McMurray College in Jacksonville and Lincoln Land Junior College in Springfield.

William Doyle

William B. "Bill" Doyle, 75, of Carlsbad, N.M., formerly of Middletown and Petersburg, died at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, N.M.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg, with the Rev. Edward Maddox officiating.

Burial will be in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Middletown. Military rites will be conducted by Menard County Inter Veterans Ceremony Unit.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at the funeral home in Petersburg.

Services in New Mexico were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home Chapel, Carlsbad.

While living in Illinois, Doyle was co-owner of the Indian Point Limestone rock quarry at Athens.

He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II.

He was born Feb. 8, 1925, at Easton to John W. and Grace (List) Doyle. He married Geraldine "Deany" Nichols on July 14, 1951. She survives, in Carlsbad, N.M.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sylvia (and husband Gail) Ringland of Easton and Sharon Guernsey of Springfield; five grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Doyle of Mason City and Richard Doyle of Petersburg; and two sisters, Mary Louise Barnett of Cantrall and Rose Buburt of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John W. Doyle Jr. of Mason City.

When Doyle returned to Illinois after his military service, he and his family bought the rock quarry at Athens, which the family owned until 1976. He and his wife lived in Middletown from the time of their marriage until 1964, when they moved to Petersburg. In 1978 they moved to LaGrange, Mo., where he attended the watch making and jewelry program at Gem City College in Quincy and received his degree. Then they moved to Carlsbad, N.M., where they opened Doyle’s Jewelry Store on Canal Street and operated that business until 1985.

In Illinois he was active in the American Legion as commander of Post 672 in Middletown, Logan County commander, commander of the local 40 and 8, and commander of Petersburg American Legion. When he was co-owner of the rock quarry in Athens, he was a director for the National Limestone Association.

In Carlsbad he was a member of the Carlsbad Downtown Lions Club, serving as president for over 20 years. He was also a member of BPOE 1558.

His hobbies included woodworking. He was an artist and a volunteer for the Carlsbad Museum, where he also exhibited his work.

He was a Methodist.

Elberta Hubbell

Elberta Hubbell, 90, of Lincoln died at 10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Kraus Retirement Home in Lincoln.

Cremation rites were accorded. There are no funeral services. Holland and Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln, is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.

Mrs. Hubbell was a retired schoolteacher.

She was born Feb. 10, 1910, at Herrin to Tony and Ninnie (Collins) Malandrone. She married C.F. Hubbell on Oct. 24, 1931, at Grafton. He died in December of 1959.

Surviving are one daughter, Marilyn Fox of Lincoln; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Zella Malandrone Hardy.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lincoln.

She received a bachelor’s degree from McKendree College and a master’s degree in education from the University of Illinois.

Bill Harmon

Bill Harmon, 75, of Lincoln died at 8:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Don Schlough officiating.

Burial will be in Camp Butler Cemetery, Springfield.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Harmon was retired from the U.S. Post Office in Lincoln.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Cleveland.

He was born May 29, 1925, in Rockford to George Ewing and Ruby (Wilson) Harmon. He married Edna J. Henrichsmeyer on March 24, 1962, in Lincoln.

Surviving are his wife, Edna, of Lincoln; three sons, Timothy (and Linda) Harmon of Pleasant Plains, Kevin Eric Harmon of Chicago, Mark William (and Nancy) Harmon of Fort Collins, Colo.; two granddaughters, Krista Hoban and Hannah Harmon; one grandson, David Harmon; two great-granddaughters, Victoria Hoban and Katelyn Hoban; one great-grandson, Patrick Hoban; one brother, Robert G. Harmon of Decatur; and one sister, Marilyn Dunn of Canton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.

Isabel Rubenking

Isabel Jane Lee Rubenking, 86, of Lincoln died at 1:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Lincoln Christian Church, with Tom Gerdts officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mrs. Rubenking retired in 1984 after 32 years as a nurse at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 28, 1914, at Hartsburg to Wayne and Ella Jane (Jackson) Lee. She married Vernon Rubenking on Feb. 25, 1967, in Lincoln. He survives.

Also surviving are five children, Jane E. Horchem, Clifford Seitzer and Rosemary Melton, all of Lincoln, Herbert J. Seitzer of Mount Pulaski and Alan Seitzer of Chandler, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Lee of Waynesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Stanley Lee; and one grandson, Michael Herbert Seitzer.

She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church and the church’s Jolly Seniors and Little Lambs Sunday School class. She was also a member of Alpha Omicron Sorority and Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion.

Arthur Tate

Arthur C. Tate, 80, of Lincoln died at 2:40 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Tate worked at the ammunition plant in Illiopolis and had farmed with his parents.

He was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Lincoln to George W. and Sylvia (Supinger) Tate.

Surviving are one brother, Edward Tate of Washington, and two cousins, Jean Mellott and Dorothy Hupp, both of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of Lincoln.

Luray Inherst

Luray "Granny" Inherst, 86, of Mount Pulaski, formerly of Latham, died at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Mrs. Inherst had been a retail clerk for A & P grocery store.

She was born Feb. 16, 1914, at Hoenwald, Tenn., to Clarence and Marie (Flurie) Coffee. She married Robert B. Inherst, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, on Dec. 6, 1930.

Surviving are two sons, Patrick R. (and Anne) Inherst of Chesterton, Ind., and Robert L. (and Jeanene Carole) Inherst of Latham; one daughter, Carrie M. (and Ralph E.) Deal of Latham; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.

She was a member of Latham Baptist Church in Latham.

Thelma Damman

Thelma Damman, 83, of Normal died at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at the Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta. David Harmon will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville.

Visitation will be one hour before the services at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Mrs. Damman was employed as a nurses aide at BroMenn Regional Medical Center for many years.

She was born June 5, 1917, near LeRoy, to Haze and Nellie (McLain) French. She married Calvin Kinman on April 7, 1941. He died Aug. 10, 1962. She later married Lowell Damman, on Feb. 25, 1972. He survives.

Also surviving are one stepson, George Damman of Normal; two sisters, Ann French of Lincoln and Hazel Jones of Atlanta; three brothers, James French and Ramey French, both of Lincoln, and Kenneth French of Normal; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Delmar French.

She was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Bloomington.
