Orvel
Duane Nelson, 61, of Lincoln, died at 10:24 a.m. Monday, March 12,
2001, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral
services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Holland and Barry
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial
will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Nelson
was a bartender at Lincoln VFW, previously worked at Myers
Industries in Lincoln and was a cab driver for 13 years in Lincoln.
He
served at the Pentagon with the U.S. Navy in 1959-1960.
He
was born April 10, 1939, in Pekin to Orvel O and Edith I. (Baugher)
Nelson. He married Margaret J. Tangman on Nov. 15, 1959, at Green
Valley.
Surviving
are his wife, in Lincoln; four children, Michael D. Nelson of
Florida and Debra L. Kirk, Brian E. Nelson and Kimberly L. Newman,
all of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; and three brothers, Donnie
Nelson of Pekin, Dennis Nelson of Galva and Danny Nelson of Lincoln.
He
was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Darrel and
Dale Nelson.
He
was a member of the VFW and Eagles Lodge, both in Lincoln.

Orville
McVey
Orville
T. McVey, 84, of Mount Pulaski died at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13,
2001, at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.
Funeral
services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at St. Thomas Aquinas
Catholic Church in Mount Pulaski, with Father Patrick DeMeulemeester
officiating.
Burial,
with military rites, will be at Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
McVey
was a retired carpenter.
He
was a World War II veteran of the Army Medical Corps.
He
was born March 28, 1916, at Mount Pulaski to Eli Allen and Emma (Bertrang)
McVey. He married Jeanette Cerar in Carlinville on March 7, 1953.
Surviving
are his wife, of Mount Pulaski; one son, Edward (Jill) McVey of
Morris; three daughters, Mary Eileen McVey of Charlotte, N.C.,
Patricia (Ron) Schaffenacker of Mount Pulaski and Janet McVey of
Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Pope of
Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
He
was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
Memorials
may be made to his church or to Vonderlieth Living Center.
