The third-grade class of Kathy Hawkinson at Jefferson School has been reading a story about a boy with a ball of string. So, they took a walk Tuesday afternoon to see Lincoln's biggest ball of string. The ball can be seen in the front window of A.Lincoln.General Store on South Sangamon St. The ball, now weighing 400 pounds, was originally collected in Charlie Dutz's paint store.
