The Looking for Lincoln Committee of Logan County opened the historic well of Deskins Tavern on Monday, May 14. The well is located on city property just outside the VFW Post at 915 Fifth St., across from the Postville Courthouse state historic site. Traveling lawyers, including Abraham Lincoln, made the tavern their headquarters while traveling the 8th Judicial Circuit and routinely drank from the well. The Looking for Lincoln Committee is exploring the possibility of making the well usable again for visitors to Logan County.
