President George Bush has declared the U.S.
under terrorism attack  
(posted 11:15 a.m. Tues., Sept. 11)

Terrorists have attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Three planes were confirmed flown into those structures. The planes were hijacked commercial airliners with passengers. One was an American Airlines flight.

Two planes were crashed into the upper levels of the twin towers of the World Trade Center. The towers later collapsed. There were an estimated 20,000 people believed to have perished in those buildings.

One plane was crashed into the Pentagon.

There has also been a hijacked airliner crashed near Pittsburgh, Pa. There are still other unaccounted for planes in the air believed to be hijacked.

All commercial flights in the U.S. have been grounded. Canada is not allowing for takeoffs but is receiving landings.

The U.S. Air Force is flying defense over Washington.
