Special services on 9/11 [SEPT. 9, 2002] The Lincoln Christian College and Seminary campus community will observe Sept. 11 with a special prayer service in the chapel auditorium. For those who wish to come and go, there will be an open prayer time between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. on that Wednesday. There will be soft music and soft lights to create a "quiet hour" atmosphere. • The Lincoln Fire Department will have a memorial service at 6 p.m. Sept. 11 for those who died in the tragedy a year ago. Rep. Jonathan Wright will speak. • On Wednesday, Sept. 11, the Park Meadows Baptist Church of Lincoln will have a special patriotic service at 7:15 p.m. with testimonies, music and a special message by Pastor S.M. Davis. On Sept. 29, the church will have "Red, White and Blue Sunday" (see below). Leaders of fire, emergency, medical and police departments will recognize key people from their departments. Guest speaker will be FBI trainer Mark Rizzo. A meal will be shared by members of the church.
Park Meadows
hosts Red, [SEPT. 6, 2002] On Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m., Park Meadows Baptist Church is hosting their third annual Red, White and Blue Sunday. This is a special day which allows the church to: • Honor and thank fire department, emergency services and law enforcement personnel in the area. • Motivate and challenge people to pray for, support, and appreciate those men and women who dedicate their lives each day to protect and serve us. • To hear the leaders of fire department, emergency services and law enforcement personnel publicly honor someone from their departments. • Teach the youth that these men and women are to be respected and obeyed. • Provide an opportunity for those who work in key areas to hear a message of encouragement from a nationally known and respected chaplain. The special speaker will be Mark Rizzo. He is an FBI trainer; seminar speaker on gangs, organized crime, criminal justice and behavioral science; and executive director of FREEdom Flyer Ministries, which has more than 500 staff members serving law enforcement in 42 states and four countries. A potluck meal after the morning service will be provided for all guests and their families and shared by members of the church.
