Quick Christmas mutterings: Cook Activated and nails first shot!     Send a link to a friend

[DEC. 29, 2003]  Number seven of the L.A. Laker’s, Lincoln’s Brian Cook was finally activated this past week.  Cook’s professional career was delayed a few months following a broken hand he suffered during the pre-season.  Cook saw his first action of the season yesterday in LA’s 105-82 hammering of the Boston Celtics.

Cook’s line saw him scoring his first points as a professional with 2 points, 2 fouls, 1 steal and a couple of missed shots…one of them a 3-pointer. Cook entered the game for Shaq at the 4:33 mark of the fourth quarter and promptly buried the first shot he ever took as a pro! [http://www.nba.com/playerfile/brian_cook/index.html?nav=page]

Next up for Cook and the Lakers is a Fri excursion to Seattle. Stay tuned to the LDN for future Cook updates.

 NFL Play-off pairings set

In AFC action, the Tenn-Balt winner will travel to KC while the Den-Ind victor goes to NE and gets a crack at the Patriots. In the NFC, the Panthers host the Car-Dal game with the winner getting the Eagles in Philly. Mike Holmgren returns to the frozen tundra in the Sea-GB with the survivor meeting the Rams in St. Louie. This could be a year that a wild card emerges again.
