Coach Carrie Schreiber said: "These two
individuals are the first students in many years to advance from
Lincoln Community High School, and it is quite a prestigious
accomplishment. They will be competing with students from around the
United States. This competition will make them better speakers."
In addition, Lincoln group
interpretation cast members Kassandra Pepperell, Doug Rohrer and Tom
Swanson were named to the all-state group interpretation casts.
These students were nominated by at least four of five judges at the
IHSA state tournament.

The group interpretation entry itself
did not advance to the final round but placed fourth in its section.
Co-director
Ed Jodlowski said: "We were disappointed not to advance to the
final, because we had such a solid performance. Two judges said we
should advance; however, we managed to only place fourth. On the
positive side, though, it was great for Kasey, Doug and Tom. They
deserved to be on the all-state cast for their excellent
performances."
