[APRIL 5, 2004]  CANTON -- Lincoln College split a softball doubleheader with Spoon River here Sunday afternoon, winning the second game 10-2 after losing the opener 9-6.

Kelly Nader (4-6) was the winning pitcher for the Lynx, giving up just one earned run in the second game. She had a pair of strikeouts and walked one, while giving up three hits.

LC had three triples in the contest, with Katie Meikle, Beth Smith and Ashley Shaw collecting one each. Smith finished the game with four hits in four trips to the plate, while Shaw and Norissa Stetter had three hits each. Nicole Dearing and Erin Kuta each had two hits.

"We played the way we are capable of playing when we put forth a great effort. It was nice to see us bounce back after we gave away the first game in the fourth inning when we made three errors and gave up four walks," said Lincoln coach John Andrews. "Kelly pitched a great game for us."
