[AUG. 7, 2004]  The original foundation of the Chautauqua Grounds auditorium has been uncovered in time for its 100th anniversary. The historic site was first home to Indians living along Salt Creek. The beautiful setting later became a popular summer gathering place of early settlers. The area is now known as Memorial Park.

You can see the site by going to the second pavilion in the park. From there you will see the back half of the foundation that remains.

The auditorium was first used on Aug. 11, 1904. A "Singspiration" and rededication is scheduled at the site this Sunday, Aug. 8, at 9:30 a.m. Park Meadows Baptist Church is hosting the celebration. The public is invited to attend.

The dedication will be aired on Channel 5 the following Sunday, Aug. 15, during the Park Meadows church service time slot.
