Dirk A. Noble

Dirk Allen Noble, 42, of Lincoln died Friday (Aug. 13, 2004), at 11:16 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Noble was a certified welder for Archer Daniels Midland in Decatur.

He was born Oct. 18, 1961, in Lincoln to Harold and Eleanor M. Winkel Noble.

He is survived by his mother, of Lincoln; one sister, Donna Covert of California; two nieces; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Unit at the Christian Village in Lincoln.

Charles Carter

A memorial service for Dr. Charles C. Carter will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Carol Andricks officiating. Visitation will follow, in the basement of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Pulaski.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Dr. Carter, 85, of Saratoga, Calif., formerly of Mount Pulaski, died May 24, 2004, at his home in California. He was a professor at San Jose State University for 23 years.

He was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Mount Pulaski to Clair and Nettie Kusterer Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Corinn Carter of Saratoga, Calif.; one brother, Wesley (and Dorothy) Carter of Mount Pulaski; and three nephews, John Carter of Decatur, William Dykstra of Florida and Jay Dykstra of Wisconsin.

He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Lincoln Elks Club 914.

Mabel Amberg

Mabel Amberg, 97, of Lincoln died Sunday (Aug. 15, 2004) at 4 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Union Cemetery, Lincoln, with Pastor Dan Wissmann officiating.

Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

Miss Amberg retired in CIPS in Springfield, where she was a secretary.

She was born July 19, 1907, in Broadwell Township to William and Ida Leesman Amberg.

She is survived by three nieces, three nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Olson and Florence Johnson.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

She was a graduate of Lincoln Community High School and Brown's Business College in Springfield.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln or to the donor's choice.


Louise R. McConnell

Louise R. McConnell, 69, of Lincoln died Friday, (Aug. 13, 2004) at 9:23 p.m. in the emergency room at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Her body will be cremated, and no services have been scheduled at this time.

Holland and Barry Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mrs. McConnell was a homemaker.

She was born to Feb. 25, 1935, in Chicago to Frederick B. and Margaret E. Wills Shumard.

She is survived by one daughter, Margaret L. O'Connell of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Martha J. Berg of Round Lake Beach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Marjorie D. Shumard and June Shirley Laskey.

She was of the Catholic faith. She was past president of the Post 1170 American Legion Auxiliary in Round Lake.
