LCHS weekend speech results   Send a link to a friend

[DEC. 13, 2004]  A trip to the competitive Naperville Central Tournament of Roses proved to be a good test for the Lincoln Community High School speech team. While the team placed eighth out of 25 schools, seven individual events advanced to the final.

"Eighth place with this type of competition is a great accomplishment considering the top five teams in the state from last year's state final were there," said Lincoln speech coach Ed Jodlowski. "We had a very good day, landing as many kids in the finals as many of the best speech programs in the state of Illinois. And, a few breaks here and there, we would have had another five or six people in the finals."

Finalists for Lincoln included Kathryn Muck and Brady Gerdts, second in dramatic duet; Muck, seventh in dramatic interpretation; Tom Swanson, fourth in declamation and special occasion speaking; Kassandra Pepperell, fifth in declamation; Eric Knutilla, sixth in verse; and Knutilla and Gerdts, fifth in humorous duet acting.

The entire team will compete this weekend at the Olympia Christmas Classic.
