New subdivision development begins

[DEC. 14, 2004]  Travelers along Interstate 55 will see lots of activity at the Elkhart exit. Earthmovers, huge tiles and land dotted with marking flags indicate the beginning construction phase of a new subdivision in Elkhart.

Prairie Pointe subdivision will ultimately contain nearly 50 homes as well as several duplex units. Hometown entrepreneurs Rick and Kathy Kaesebier are leading the Elkhart expansion with an innovative program that provides $10,000 grants to homebuilders.

The village is partnering with them through its Tax Increment Finance District. Village President Dayle Eldredge says: "We are thrilled to see that new homes will be constructed in Elkhart. We especially encourage families to consider Elkhart; it's a great place to raise children. The location between Bloomington, Lincoln and Springfield and easy access to Decatur make Elkhart a convenient "bedroom" community -- especially for couples who work in differing communities. The TIF was created to foster growth in the community, and we are excited to see that growth taking place."
