Four candidates vie for mayoral position

[DEC. 28, 2004]  A finalized list of candidates for city of Lincoln offices for the consolidated primary election scheduled for Feb. 22 has been released. The race for mayor of Lincoln is on.

Only the office of mayor, with three Republican candidates, will be contested in this race. One of the two Democratic names, Gerald "Jerry" Harl, will not appear on the ballot following a decision at last night's electoral board hearing. [See article]

The next consolidated election, on April 5, will have Republican versus Democratic contests for the mayor and the Ward 2 (two-year term) alderman positions.

Mayor

Republican mayoral candidates registered are Patrick L. O'Neill, Dale Voyles and Elizabeth A. Davis.

The Democratic candidate is Jan L. Tabor.

City treasurer

Republican candidate -- Lester D. Plotner

City clerk

Republican candidate -- Melanie J. Riggs
