[FEB. 21, 2004]   Lincoln Community High School soccer player Brenton Saylor has signed a letter of intent to play for the Lincoln College soccer program in the fall.

Lincoln College soccer coach Ben Massena says Saylor is a good player to add to the lineup and that he will play the goalie position for the Lynx. "Brenton brings depth to the goalie position, Massena said. His hard work and dedication is what we have been looking for to add to our program."

Allen Pickering, LC athletic director, is pleased with Saylor's decision. "Brenton has really grown up watching the Lynx and has shown a true dedication to the sport, Pickering said. I think his familiarity within the Lincoln College environment will make a tremendous impact on next season's play."

Saylor, who was captain during his senior year, played for Lincoln Community High School head soccer coach Tom Mahaur and also played for the Peoria Soccer Club under the guidance of coach Jevan Meunzer.

Saylor was named to the Central State Eight all-conference team in December 2003. At LCHS, he set a school single-season record with eight shutouts. He was also listed as a Mid-State All-Star as well as achieving academic high honors.

Saylor is the son of Jan Saylor of Lincoln.
