[FEB. 23, 2004]  Early Intervention Parents as Leaders is hosting informational meetings for parents or guardians whose children are currently receiving early intervention services or whose children have exited the early intervention system within the last six months. The organization is seeking parents who are interested in making a difference in both the early intervention program and its policies, who are willing to meet with other early intervention parents in their communities and throughout the state, and who are open to working with other parents in developing their leadership skills.

The first of the informational meetings will be March 3 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Shelbyville Public Library, 154 N. Broadway in Shelbyville; and on March 11 at Mount Zion Public Library, 115 W. Main in Mount Zion, and at Little Flower Church (quonset hut), 800 Stephenson Drive in Springfield. Attendance at only one of the meetings is expected.

Registration is required and can be made by calling (217) 899-7524. Early intervention parents and those with children exiting the program in the last six months will be offered a stipend to attend.

Refreshments will be served.
