Girl Scout cookies are coming

SPRINGFIELD -- It's Girl
Scout cookie time again! This year, Girl Scouts are introducing a
new cookie called Piņatas. Made with real strawberries, Piņatas are
iced on the bottom and topped with strawberry jam, a touch of
cinnamon crumbs and white sugar icing.

All eight varieties of Girl Scout
cookies will be available to order through Girl Scouts, Land of
Lincoln Council Jan. 9-24. Delivery will begin Feb. 14.
For $3 a box, you can stock up on Thin
Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Shortbreads,
Peanut Butter Patties, Reduced Fat Lemon Pastry Cremes, Animal
Treasures and Piņatas.
When you buy a box of Girl Scout
cookies, you shape the future by helping girls grow strong. The Girl
Scout cookie program teaches girls all kinds of important life
skills, such as planning, goal-setting, communicating with others,
teamwork and economic independence.

"Girls work toward a common goal and
strive to do their very best," states Sue Clark, CEO of Girl Scouts,
Land of Lincoln Council. "Not only are they having fun, but they
gain valuable life skills too."
Look for
Girls Scouts and troops from the Land of Lincoln Council to begin
taking orders for cookies Friday, Jan. 9, through Jan. 24.
