Irma Potter

Irma A. Potter, 98, of St. Joseph's Home in West Peoria and formerly of Lincoln, died Sunday (Jan. 11, 2004) at 10:45 a.m. at Mother of Peace Home, West Peoria.

Her funeral Mass was Wednesday morning at St. Joseph's Home, with Monsignor Steven Rohlfs officiating. A visitation time preceded the service.

Visitation in Lincoln will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Prayers of commendation will be at 3:30 p.m., with burial following in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln.

Family and friends are invited to a buffet supper at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Lincoln.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Wright & Salmon Mortuary in Peoria.

Mrs. Potter, a registered nurse, served as a Logan County nurse for many years.

She was born Sept. 7, 1905, in Lincoln to Benjamin and Elisabeth Ohmes Pfeifer. She married Omer S. Potter on Oct. 9, 1929, in Lincoln. He died in 1970 in Lincoln.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Joan Rohlfs, in 1968 and three sisters.

Surviving are four grandsons, Monsignor Steven Rohlfs of Peoria, Michael (and Cheryl) Rohlfs of Northbrook, Timothy (and Vaune) Rohlfs of Exton, Pa., and Christopher (and Joane) Rohlfs of Somerdale, N.J.; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Potter was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lincoln and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and Holy Family Society in Lincoln.

She was also a member of Logan County Red Cross, Logan County Blood Bank and Logan Elks Crippled Children's Clinic.

She was the first woman to be named as Logan County Citizen of the Year by the Lincoln Courier.
