Cora Russo

Cora G. Russo, 84, of Lincoln died Thursday (Jan. 15, 2004) at 4:13 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Monsignor Edward Higgins officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Middletown.

Mrs. Russo was a registered nurse and retired from Temple Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa.

She was born Sept. 28, 1919, at New Holland to Glen E. and Leola Crawford Ewers. She married Anthony F. Russo on Oct. 23, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pa. He died April 5, 1988.

She is survived by one sister, Virginia Mae (and Harold) Schmidt of Lincoln; a godchild, Carol Schipiani of Philadelphia, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

She was a member of Holy Family Church of Lincoln, the Nurses Alumni Association of BroMenn in Bloomington and the China-Burma-India Veterans Association, for which she was a historian.

Memorials may be made to the Christian Village or to the donor's choice.

Dr. Robert Jones

Robert William Jones, 73, of Litchfield and North Fort Meyers, Fla., formerly of Lincoln, died Thursday (Jan. 15, 2004) at 11:30 p.m. at H. Lee Moffett Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla.

He was cremated, and a service will be announced at a later date.

Dr. Jones retired from Lincoln Community High School, where he served as superintendent from 1966 to 1985.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was born June 13, 1930, in Chicago to Albert and Ida Schimpf Jones. He married Charlotte Williams on Aug. 10, 1952, in Litchfield.

Survivors are his wife, of Litchfield; four sons, Robert (and Nancy) Jones of Wilmington, N.C., Richard (and Bonita) Jones of Winnetka, James Jones of St. Louis, Mo., and Jeffrey (and Regina) Jones of Webster Grove, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a life member of American Legion Post 263 of Lincoln and a member of the Moose Lodge of Litchfield, Elks Lodge of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Lincoln Lodge 210.
