speech team results at Heyworth

This weekend the Lincoln
Community High School Speech team traveled to Heyworth, where they
competed in the 23-team Heyworth Invitational. The team finished
third in very stiff competition, just getting edged out of first and
second.

Varsity tournament champions from
LCHS were Doug Rohrer and Brandon Davis in dramatic duet, Lindsey
Boerma and Doug Rohrer in humorous duet, Kathryn Muck in dramatic
interpretation, and Brandon Davis in declamation. Other local
varsity finalists were Lindsey Boerma second, Kathryn Muck fifth
and Patrick Perry seventh in humorous interpretation; Kasey
Pepperell, fourth in impromptu; Erica Brickey, seventh in
declamation; Amy Schumacher, fifth in oratory; Brian Welter, sixth
in radio; Tom Swanson, fourth in special occasion; and Erica
Brickey, second in verse.
Novice champions were Sonya Twist in
declamation and Brandon Rahn in impromptu. Other novice placers
were Meri Laurence and Jill Patrick, third, and Tony Curcuru and
Daniel Ohmart, fourth, in dramatic duet; Sid Comstock, second, and
Brandon Rahn, fourth, in extemporaneous; Daniel Ohmart and Patrick
Perry, second, and Catherine O'Donoghue and Tony Curcuru, third,
in humorous duet; Rachel Hahn, fifth in humorous interpretation
and original comedy; Kaylee Carnahan, second in declamation; Sonya
Twist second and Adrienne Hildebrandt fourth in oratory; Rebecca
Rogers, fourth in prose; Andrew Kleinman, third in radio; and Jill
Patrick third and Andrew Kleinman sixth in special occasion.

This
weekend the speech team will travel to the Downers Grove
tournament before competing at home the last Saturday in January
in the Lincoln Tournament. The community is invited to attend the
tournament or the "Meet the Regional Team" night on Thursday, Feb.
5, at 6:30 in the high school auditorium.
