[JAN. 21, 2004]  Following the 5-1 approval and recommendation by the Lincoln Planning Commission, the Lincoln City Council on Tuesday passed two measures that will bring a car racetrack to Lincoln. First they approved an amendment for racetrack special use in C-1 and C-2 districts. Then they approved a special use of that ordinance at the Logan County Fairgrounds for B&H Racing Enterprise. Both measures passed unanimously.

On the advice of the city attorney, Alderman David Armbrust removed himself from voting, due to a possible conflict of interest. He and his wife own fairgrounds stock. Verl Prather was absent. All other eight aldermen were in favor.

The council tabled another double zoning and business request. Steve and Cynthia Goodman have requested rezoning on 2 lots on Eighth Street next to the Christian Nursing Home and permission to build a small subdivision that includes those lots. A few details of property boundaries and curbing and gutters need to be worked out by the city first. There are some property lines that extend into the street. Alderman Steve Fuhrer said they plan to work out some complications at next Tuesday night's workshop.
