[JULY 23, 2004]  The Lincoln Elementary School District 27 Board of Education met Wednesday, July 21, for its regular monthly meeting. Among the items on the agenda were several resignations and new hires for the upcoming school year.

Terry Thompson, longtime custodian at Central School, resigned his position effective July 6, and the school will have a different janitor next year. Susan Lile, Write to Read program aide at Jefferson, has resigned effective immediately, and Don Ware has resigned his position as head custodian at Washington-Monroe effective Aug. 31.

The board approved the hiring of two new teachers, as well as the new head custodian at Central, Ronald Heath. The new teachers are Sara Brown, for pre-kindergarten at Adams, and Amy Neece, Title I teacher at Washington-Monroe.

Maternity leave has been approved for Ginger Yeazle, a teacher at Central.

The board discussed and approved bids for milk, bread, paper, and trash pickup in the district for the coming school year as well.

Construction at the new junior high building is progressing on schedule, and the board received a positive report from Kort Cole and Dave Leonatti, representatives from S.M. Wilson, the construction company in charge of the project.

The board closed the short meeting in closed session, after announcing new exterior doors being installed at Washington-Monroe School and discussing transportation bids.

The board had also met the previous Wednesday in a special meeting to discuss the search for a new superintendent. They hope to have the best candidate lined up and ready to go by December of 2004, with the new superintendent taking the helm completely at the end of the 2004-2005 school year.
