Lincoln Legion hosts tournament     Send a link to a friend

[JULY 27, 2004]  Lincoln Legion Post 263 will host the 4th Division baseball tournament at Lindstrom Field beginning Thursday, July 29. Five teams will compete in the double-elimination tournament, with the winner advancing to the state finals next week.

Lincoln will play Springfield at noon Thursday. Springfield was the winner of the 21st District tournament, and Lincoln is automatically entered as the host team. Danville, winner of the 18th District, will play Bloomington, winner of the 17th District, at 4 p.m. Thursday. The final game Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., will pit the losers of the Lincoln-Springfield game against the loser of the Danville-Bloomington game.

Friday play will begin at noon with Rantoul, winner of the 19th District, playing the winner of the Danville-Bloomington game. Games will be played at 4 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, at noon and 4 p.m. Saturday, and, if necessary, at 1 p.m. Sunday, with the opponents determined according to the outcome of previous games.

  • Game 1 -- Lincoln vs. Springfield, noon
  • Game 2 -- Danville vs. Bloomington, 4 p.m.
  • Game 3 -- Losers of Games 1 and 2, 7:30 p.m.

Friday

  • Game 4 -- Rantoul vs. winner Game 2, noon
  • Game 5 -- Winner Game 3 vs. loser Game 4 , 4 p.m.
  • Game 6 -- Winner Game 1 vs. winner Game 4, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday

  • Game 7 -- Winner Game 5 vs. loser Game 6, noon
  • Game 8 -- Winner Game 6 vs. winner Game 7, 4 p.m.

Sunday

  • Game 9 -- Game 8 teams (if necessary), 1 p.m.
