Normally news of
this nature would be included in our weekly sports coverage.
However, because we are proud of our local hospital and because we
believe that we are blessed to have such a quality health care
institution in our community, we decided to give their recent outing
some "bonus" coverage.

The annual event attracts the best
golfers from our area, and this year's round was no different. With
several teams jockeying for position, one of the stellar foursomes
would eventually emerge on top. The "Friends of ALMH," consisting of
John Welsh, Larry Engle, Dale Spore and Chuck "Paco" Taylor, fired a
15-under for a sparkling score of 56.
There was a three-way logjam at second,
and so the ol' scorecard playoff was employed. That enabled Lincoln
College's team of Jeff Nelson, Tom Redding, Tony Moore and John
Stoltzenberg to claim the second-place prize. The others at
12-under-par 59 were Brad Neal and Associates, comprised of Brad
Neal, Eric Graue, and Nan and Dave Lockenour; and, Graue Inc., which
was made up of Robin Patton, Jan Bowers, Brad Nikles and Jason
Fitzpatrick.

A total of 32 teams vied for the title,
and this year's event raised a whopping $16,300 for the Rural Health
Partnership's Mobile Health Unit. I think it is easy to see why this
event breaks par and is definitely a birdie or eagle event!
