[FEB. 25, 2004]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is also open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership.

Bingo Thursday

AARP will sponsor the bingo games Thursday, starting at 1 p.m. You may bring gently used white elephant items for prizes. Join in the fun, games and snacks.

Baked ham entree March 2

Buy your lunch ticket at $3.50 by noon Monday, March 1, for a delicious meal of baked ham, candied yams, salad, dessert and drink on Tuesday.

"What's Cooking" cookbooks

A great 450-recipe Oasis book is laid out in a three-ring washable binder so you can add other recipes. Help support the senior center with the purchase of the cookbook for only $11.50.

Hearing screening

Appointments for hearing screenings are available for March 3, between 10 a.m. and noon. The Hearing Aid Center provides this free service at the senior center. Call 732-6132 for an appointment.

Tax aide service

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance volunteers trained by AARP-IRS are available through April 15 to help you with your simple 2003 federal and state tax returns. Call 732-6132 for an appointment.

Game winners

Nora Deiss won the monthly lunch drawing, sponsored by the Cracker Barrel. Linda Hughes won weekly pinochle honors. Weekend winners were Jan Van Bibber and Mildred Newberry. Bernie DePuy and Louise Wiebers won 5 in 1. Join this lively group each Friday and Sunday at 6 p.m. for a fun-filled evening.
