Marshall Robison

Marshall L. Robison, 80, of Mason City died Sunday (Feb. 29, 2004) at 9:24 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

His funeral was Thursday morning at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, with William Boyce and Robert Paddack officiating. Visitation was on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Graveside military rites were conducted in Mason City Cemetery.

Mr. Robison was a salvage machinist for Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria for 38 years before he retired. He was also a handyman around Mason City.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was born July 15, 1923, in Petersburg to Ed and Emma Hines Robison. He married Marian List on May 18, 1946, in Mason City.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Richard (and Karen) Robison of Greenville, John (and Cindy) Robison of Orlando, Fla., Robert Robison of Pawnee and William (and Laura) Robison of Bourbonnais; two daughters, Marsha (and Pete) Bowers of Mason City and Patricia (and DeWayne) Pace of Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Geraldine Sinclair of Mason City and Evelyn Samonski of Lady Lake, Wis.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Mason City, American Legion Post 496, Optimist Club, Over 55 Club and the Pekin Moose Lodge.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church or the Optimist Club.

Nelva Schroeder

Nelva J. Schroeder, 97, of Lincoln died Sunday (Feb. 29, 2004) at 3:30 a.m. at the Christian Village Nursing Home.

Her funeral was Thursday morning at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Peters officiating. Visitation preceded the service.

Burial is in New Union Cemetery.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln handled arrangements.

Mrs. Schroeder was a homemaker.

She was born Sept. 26, 1906, to Herman and Mary Hahn Dierker. She married Walter John Schroeder on April 2, 1925, in Lincoln. He died in September 1983.

Survivors are two sons, Wilferd Schroeder of Midlothian, Va., and Loren “Dale” (and Barbara) Schroeder of Katy, Texas; two daughters, Marilyn (and Charles) Hickman of Elgin and Dorothy (and Rocco) Giordano of Roseville, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.

She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by seven brothers and six sisters.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Guild of the church, a life member of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and a member of the Logan County Farm Bureau.

Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or Hospice Care of Illinois.
