Zion Lutheran girls qualify for state     Send a link to a friend

[MARCH 4, 2004]  The Lady Eagles eighth-grade basketball team from Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln will compete this weekend in the Lutheran Sports Association Tournament of Champions State Basketball Tournament in the suburbs of Chicago. The tournament is a statewide competition with the top 16 Lutheran schools in Illinois participating.

The Zion team compiled a 14-6 record during the regular season and qualified for competition in the state tournament by recently winning a play-in game.

Members of the team are Amanda Podbelsek, Kate Harmsen, Loren May, Colleen Pech, Brittany Rogers, Emily Sheley and Raeann Sheley.

The Eagles are coached by Dan Podbelsek and Brian Fuiten.
