Rosa Koehler

Rosa Lucille Koehler, 88, of Mount Pulaski died Sunday (March 14, 2004) at 7:45 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Her funeral was on Wednesday morning at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with Bill Shanle officiating. Visitation preceded the service.

Mrs. Koehler had been an employee of Myrick Brothers Hatchery, Illiopolis Ammunition Plant and Minnesota Tool Co.

She was born Dec. 1, 1915, in Macon County to John W. and Eva Creekmur Boneham. She married Orville Koehler in Springfield on Dec. 1, 1934. He died Nov. 8, 1990.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Aubert, and one brother, Frank Boneham. She was the last of her immediate family.

She is survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was of the Christian faith.

Mrs. Koehler enjoyed golfing, square dancing and needlework.

Bruce Simpson

Bruce E. Simpson, 69, of Lincoln died Sunday (March 14, 2004) at 5:32 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Oscar Owens officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mr. Simpson retired from Laborer's Union 703 in 2000, following 30 years of service.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He was born Jan. 27, 1935, in Forest City to Aubrey and Zeltha Vogel Simpson.

He is survived by his companion of 45 years, Mildred McCabe of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one stepsister.

He was a member of American Legion Post 263.

Erie 'Joy' Fox

Erie G. “Joy” Fox, 89, of Lincoln died Monday (March 15, 2004), at 1 p.m. at the Christian Village.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. 

A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at New Union Cemetery, Lincoln, with the Rev. Jame Hahs officiating.

Mrs. Fox was a homemaker and had previously worked at the Dixie Dress Shop and Lincoln Laboratories in the Decatur area.

She was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Lee County, Ky., to James Davey and Loura Baker Belcher. She married Leonard William Fox on May 25, 1935, in Bearsdale. He died Oct. 23, 2000.

She is survived by one son, Gary L. Fox of Rockford; one daughter, Karen (and Michael) Booher of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Kathleen Fox of Chicago, Teresa Booher of Peoria, Jefferey (and Sharron) Fox of Kirkwood, Mo., and David Booher of Indianapolis, Ind.; two great-granddaughters, Taylor Booher of Indianapolis, Ind., and Blayne Fox of Kirkwood, Mo.; two sisters, Shirley Collacott of Fort Mohave, Ariz., and Edith Kyle of North Las Vegas, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

She had been an avid bowler and enjoyed dancing, playing cards and family gatherings.

In 1988 she and her husband moved to the Friendship Manor in Lincoln. She enjoyed playing dice with her dear friend Aileen Barger. She also enjoyed crocheting macrame and crafts. It was said that she “baked the best coconut cream pie in the world.”

She had been a nursing home resident since 2000.

She was married to the love of her life for 65 years. She was loved dearly by her family and will be remembered for her gentle, loving spirit.
