[MARCH 24, 2004]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is also open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership.

Bingo sponsored by AARP

Join us Thursday at 1 p.m. for weekly bingo games, sponsored this week by AARP. There will be fun, games and gently used prizes for your enjoyment.

Glaucoma screening date change

Call the senior center, 732-6132, for a glaucoma screening appointment on Friday between 9 a.m. and noon. Last week's appointments have been rescheduled, and there are opening still available. The free screening is provided by Drake Eyecare Center.

SHARE food distribution

The Self Help and Resource Exchange orders will be available for pickup on Friday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. April orders may also be placed then. This food program sponsored by the Diocese of Peoria is open to anyone, regardless of age or income.

Memories class

The regular monthly meeting of the Memories group is scheduled for Friday at 3:45 p.m. Bring your stories and hone your writing skills.

March 30 lunch

Pick up your $3.50 ticket by noon on Monday for pot roast, potatoes, carrots, salad, bread and butter, and dessert served at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Pinochle challenge in Springfield

Sign up by Monday to play pinochle with the Springfield senior center players and bring the trophy back to Lincoln. A payment of $7 fee covers transportation, lunch and cards. If you have your own transportation, the cost is $3 for lunch and cards.

Winners

Marjorie Reiners was the lucky winner of the March lunch drawing, sponsored by Guzzardo's. Esther Will and Helen Opperman were the lucky pinochle winners last weekend, and Mable Hoagland was the weekday winner.

The Taylorville senior center retained the pinochle trophy when challenged by Oasis players.
