Spring is finally here...

And not a second
too soon! After last week, I needed the arrival of spring. I know I
should just be happy with Illinois' exciting and thrilling season,
but I wanted more. I always go through withdrawal pains when it's
over because I know how long it will be before it is back. Baseball
is great. Golf is awesome. And all the other spring and summer
sports are good too. However, for me, nothing takes the place of
college basketball… especially Illini basketball.

But I digress. I
really can't talk about it yet. Maybe I will be able to in a couple
of weeks.
At least it's a very
sunny and beautiful day today. Even that can't last. It's supposed
to get back into the 40s the next few days. Go figure.
At least baseball can
deaden the blow for a while.
Cub fans have to be
worried. Just when they thought all systems were go to potentially
reach their first World Series in decades, their ace Mark Prior goes
down, and the games he's scheduled to miss keep increasing. On top
of that, the Cardinals are already red-hot and smokin'! Whether they
win any games during the regular season remains to be seen.
Houston's still trying to lure other baseball fossils out of
retirement. A rumor had them tracking Jose Canseco the other day.
College and high school teams have already taken the field.

But even baseball, spring and sunny weather aren't making me feel any
better today. I may have to do the unthinkable -- every man's nightmare --
I may have to call my doctor.
