LC women's basketball vs. Sauk Valley     Send a link to a friend

[NOV. 9, 2004]  DIXON -- Lincoln College dropped its opening women's basketball game to Sauk Valley 79-76 on the winners' court Saturday night. The Lady Lynx will be in action Tuesday night at East Peoria as they take on second-ranked Illinois Central College.

Three Lincoln College players scored in double figures against Sauk Valley, with Carmen Weaver leading the way with 22 points. Weaver connected on eight of 16 shots, including 2-of-2 from 3-point land, and hit all four free throws. Weaver also had five steals, three assists and three rebounds. Joining Weaver in double figures were Dominique Gore with 14 and Nicole White with 11 points. Jessica Hamman pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Lady Lynx.

The Lady Lynx shot well from 3-point range and the free-throw line; however, they were unable to connect on two-point goals, making just 16 of 61 attempts for 26 percent. LC was 9-of-14 from 3-point range and 17-of-23 at the foul line.

Sauk Valley held a 41-35 lead at the half and made the margin stand up as LC came up three points short.

Lincoln College scoring: Irma Cruz 2-7-3-4-7; Dominique Gore 3-9-5-6-14; Jessica Hamman 2-11-2-5-6; Brittany Ingram 1-3-0-0-3; Latoria Lane 3-6-1-1-8; Tiffany Tungate 2-5-0-0-5; Carmen Weaver 8-16-4-4-22; Nicole White 4-11-2-2-11.  Totals 25-75-17-23-76.  Three-point goals: Gore 3, Ingram, Lane, Tungate, Weaver 2, White.
