The Illinois Association of
School Boards, in conjunction with the Logan-Mason-Menard Regional
Office of Education, will be presenting "Serving With Distinction."
This video workshop introduces school board work to anyone
interested in becoming a school board member, provides information
for current school board candidates or newly elected school board
members, and serves as a discussion catalyst for more veteran board
members.

The
workshop is divided into four segments:
- The Work of the Board
- A Board Member’s Approach to
Board Work
- The Good, the Bad and the
Frustrating
- Special Considerations for
Candidates
Participants will have an
opportunity to discuss and ask questions about each segment.
There will be three opportunities
for people interested to attend a workshop: Nov. 29 at Lincoln
Community High School, in the Instructional Materials Center; Jan.
11, 2005, at Porta High School, in the library; and Jan. 24, 2005,
at Havana High School. All three sessions will begin at 6:30 p.m.
