Kiosks make WIC access easy    

[NOV. 18, 2004]  SPRINGFIELD -- Department of Human Services Secretary Carol Adams visited the first WIC Food Center Kiosk service in late October. This new system makes nutrition education and outreach information available at computer kiosks. It offers a more convenient option for working families and provides a more effective and efficient solution to the old time-consuming efforts.

The kiosks are designed to handle high-volume use through special "fast track" buttons, allowing direct access to the Midwest Region WIC nutrition education project website, www.wichealth.org.

Access to the DHS website has been included so that customers have access to such features as the online food stamp application.

The kiosks are being field-tested and should be ready for client operation this month.
