In earning the accolades, Brown led No.
5 (No. 6, AP) Illinois to two victories, averaging 18.5 points per
game and shooting 81.3 percent from the field (13-16) last week. The
junior guard scored a game-high 17 points in the home opener versus
Delaware State, hitting 5-of-6 shots, including a 4-of-5 effort from
3-point range. Brown then added a season-high 20 points against
Florida A&M, connecting on 8-of-8 shots in the first half. For the
weekend, he finished with an average of 18.5 points and 3.5 assists
per game, while posting an impressive 72.7 percent accuracy from
beyond the arc (8-of-11).
Brown, from Maywood, graduated from Proviso East.
This is his third Big Ten weekly
laurel. He was previously honored on March 1, 2004, and Dec. 23,
2002.
