[OCT. 1, 2004]  Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln has been accepted as a member of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference beginning with the 2006-07 academic year. Conference commissioner Rich Meckfessel made the announcement.

The membership is contingent on Lincoln Christian's successful completion of the NCAA membership process, which the college is currently working through.

The Preachers will be eligible for conference championships in 2006-07 but will not be eligible to participate in postseason tournaments in the conference and NCAA until the NCAA membership process has been completed.

"Lincoln Christian has made a solid commitment to bring its athletic program up to NCAA Division III standards. They already have an excellent volleyball program, and their other sports and facilities are being upgraded and new sports are being added. We look forward to having them in our conference because they share our athletic philosophy and values," said Meckfessel.

The eight current members of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference are Blackburn College, Fontbonne University, Greenville College, MacMurray College, Maryville University, Principia College, Webster University and Westminster College.
