MASON CITY -- Mabel N. Gunterman, 80, of Mason City died at
6:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Mason City Area Nursing
Home.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hurley Funeral
Home in Mason City, with the Rev. Al Sample officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Easton Cemetery.
Mrs. Gunterman worked at TT's Red Fox in Easton and Mason
City for several years before retiring in 1989.
She was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Kentucky to James and Mattie
Pollard Garrison. She married Frank Gunterman on Oct. 9, 1940,
in New London, Mo. He died April 12, 1984.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald (and Betty) Gunterman
of Easton and Donald (and Carlene) Gunterman of Easton; three
grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two sisters, Reba Null
and Betty Banister, both of Mason City.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters and three
brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mason City Area
Nursing Home.

ATLANTA -- Barbara J. Horath, 78, of Atlanta died at 3:25
p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Maple Ridge Care Centre in
Lincoln, where she resided the last seven years.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Quiram
Funeral Home, Atlanta. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Collins
officiating.
Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery.
Mrs. Horath had worked at State Farm Insurance Company in
Bloomington, Kaup's Superette in Atlanta and the Lincoln
Garment Factory in Lincoln.
She was born Oct. 27, 1925, at McLean to Allen and Gertrude
Van Ness Mitchell. She married Nolan Horath on Oct. 12, 1944,
at Effingham. He died Nov. 22, 1977.
She is survived by one son, Michael (and Charlotte) Horath
of Atlanta; one grandson, Charles Horath of Atlanta; two
stepgranddaughters, Debbie Smith and Dawn Garner; four
step-great-grandsons; two sisters, Vivian Murphy of Wapella
and Charlotte Ijams of Atlanta; one brother, Art (and Doris)
Mitchell of Lafayette, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister,
Dorothy Mitchell.
Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad.
