[OCT. 18, 2004]  The LDN has just learned that Lincoln's Brian Cook has been selected to the University of Illinois All-Century Team. The Fighting Illini are celebrating 100 years of Illinois basketball this season, and selection among only 20 ALL-time stars is a huge honor for Cook.

He finished his Illini career as the third-highest scorer in history, with 1,748 points, and the fifth-highest rebounder, with 815 rebounds. He led the team to 98 victories, the third-highest in Illinois history.

Cook was the Big Ten's Player of the Year in 2003 and later became a first-round pick by the Los Angeles Lakers. He expects to be a big component for the Lakers as they begin the post-Shaq era this season.

The LDN salutes Brian Cook and congratulates him on this wonderful selection to the All-Century Team.
