LC soccer team ends season with best game

[OCT. 26, 2004]  EAST PEORIA -- Illinois Central College ended the Lincoln College women's soccer season with a 3-2 victory in the Region 24 tournament here. The Lady Lynx finish the season with a record of 1-16.

"We played our best game of the year today," said Lincoln coach Aaron Paskvan. "We had three or four good chances in the closing minutes but did not convert. I was very proud of our team. We played with heart and showed our true skill in this game. The only thing that would have pleased me more would have been a win."

Sara Musser had 20 saves in goal for the Lynx.

Lincoln jumped in front in the fifth minute of play with Chris Rivera scoring on a cross from Chelsey Molln. ICC knotted the score at the 30th minute on a goal by Camie Grant. Elise Sommerfield scored on a free kick eight minutes later to put the Lynx up 2-1 at halftime.

Jessica Kupterson cleaned up a rebound for a goal at the 83rd minute to tie the score, and with three minutes left, ICC had a corner kick, Jessica Kupterson sent it across the net, and it was elevated into the goal by Kelly Knolblock to give ICC the victory.
